UCONN Global Health Program
The UCONN Global Health Graduate Certificate offered by the Institute for Collaboration on Health, Intervention, and Policy (InCHIP) aims to enhance global health by addressing mechanisms, interventions, and policies that impact health across international, transnational, and intranational contexts. This in-person 12-credit program is designed to create informed citizens and a globally aware workforce. It equips students with knowledge about the global burden of disease, social and environmental determinants of health, health equity principles, and ethical considerations when working with diverse populations. The program is exclusively open to current UConn graduate students.

Program Overview:

Global health research is interdisciplinary and diverse, spanning areas such as infant and child health, maternal health, sexuality and gender, food security, mental health, infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, and international development
​
Methodological approaches include surveys, participatory research, statistical methods, mapping, and randomized control trials.

Upon completion, students will:

Understand frameworks from public health, social medicine, and environmental and behavioral sciences relevant to global health.

Analyze social, cultural, political, economic, and structural determinants of health and their impact on access to quality health services.
​

Gain insight into the history of global health and its antecedent field of international health.

Recognize how power dynamics and structural inequities affect health outcomes.
​​

Apply evidence-based practices to investigate global health issues.

Global Health Track for Residents:

The University of Connecticut Internal Medicine Program offers a Global Health Track integrated within the main residency curriculum.
